The Project was due to move from the shipyard to the offshore location and Peritus were engaged to conduct an early Risk Review of pre-operational and operational issues to allow timely assessment of mitigation and risk management planning. Peritus have been approached to plan and facilitate a Risk Review workshop, incorporating previous lessons learned and input from key Project and Operational representatives. A workshop agenda, with pre-reading for the attendees was produced and distributed in advance of the workshop. This included the workshop methodology and some lessons learned from previous projects as guidance. The workshop was facilitated by Peritus in the form of a structured brainstorm and established definitions of risks and opportunities including the distinction between risks and normal project ‘issues’. Following the workshop, a smaller team completed the ranking of the identified risks (and opportunities) and identify action items for on-going management of risks.
The client, a non-operator Joint Venture, operating on the North West Shelf Australia engaged Peritus to act in the role of owners’ engineer. The existing production facility is the FPSO
During the course of the development Peritus has supported the client in the provision of technical support in the assurance of the project delivery by the Operator. This includes Concept, FEED and Execute phases of the project. Initially Peritus performed an independent technical and cost assessment of the Operator’s selected concept. This assessment provided valuable insights to our client regarding technical challenges and potential CAPEX risks and opportunities. These insights and Peritus Lessons Learned from other projects provided the basis for a Risk & Opportunities workshop which was facilitated by Peritus. Prior to FEED entry Peritus performed an independent assessment of the Key Decisions developed by the Operator. Assuring that the preferred concept was robust and developed sufficiently for FEED. Peritus provided ongoing support during the Execution of the project. This support includes ongoing technical reviews, workshop(s) attendance and attendance at project meetings. Peritus expertise provided during the project has included Field Development, Floating Structures, Flow Assurance, Subsea Pipelines and Subsea Systems.
